In response to Thanks for the pollyanna pablum posted by BoltonCT:

Bob Brinker has been bullish through a 5% to 10% loss his clientell has taken this year.

Just my opinion...

Stock market investors surely know that corrections of 5% to 10% are typical and normal during cyclical bull markets. As long as stocks remain within the "20% decline" that most characterize as the threshold for a bear market, I think Brinker is correct with his bullish opinion.

kass ignore 770, very well could be a member of the brinker organization try to pry $185 out of your hands. This behavior is not unheard of by that group. Old bob is fully invested. There are a great many former subscribers here, including me. I decided more than five years ago to stop giving bob $185 a year because I found significantly more value reading the boards here. Marketing timing is an extremely risky way to proceed. Old bob is more about entertaining folks with his radio program and trolling for subscribers, reminiscent of P.T. Barnum. If you want to try brinker’s newsletter, go ahead. Just don’t take any of his advice.

Heck don’t believe just me read this thread on Bob Brinker testimonials.

You will see he has a few supporters but many more people that hold a very low opinion of the man. My personal opinion of the man is so low I wouldn’t buy his newsletter even if it guaranteed me the highest returns year after year.

As for me I survived the last five years just fine by following a basic plan. Select an asset allocation that fits my tolerance for risk and time horizon, regular dollar cost averaging, and rebalancing to keep my allocation in line with my plan. Anyone can do this without spending $185 a year. If you have questions there are several people here that can help you out.

kass,

When he says, "Just don’t take any of his advice" SteveT is being a little too harsh, methinks.

I've done very well taking Bob's advice. At least some of it. So my recommendation is to go ahead and subscribe. Just make sure you only follow some of his advice.

How do you know which advice to take from Brinker. I took his advice on the QQQ buy and it cost me big bucks. In all the years that I was a subscriber and listener he never acknowledged that it was a mistake. I was accused of not being a mentch(sp), Bob should been one by admitting his bad call.

i agree with rasputin's post .

bob's best advice to anyone is to be your own investment advisor . your biggest mistake on your Q investment was that you followed some one else's advice instead of your own . listen to everybody . follow no one . decide for yourself . read everything you can get your hands on . suite101 is a excellent place to start . we've got lots of good opinions here .

by the way , bob admitted on the air , that his Q call was a mistake . you need to admit that it was also YOUR mistake to follow anyone else's advice with YOUR money .

when i read your question about bob's current asset allocation in his portfolio two , i thought . " what difference does it make ? " . bob changes his mutual fund asset allocation in his portfolios all the time and you need to learn that process for yourself without bob .

good luck in figuring this stuff out . it's a rough market right now .

Kirk
There is no way that he had 200,000 subscribers, that would gross $37 Million dollars in subscription fees a year.

I don't have more accurate numbers, allan coleman, but do you really think that 1 out of every 1500 people that live in the USA subscribes to the newsletter? I doubt that 1 out of every 1500 people have even heard of him, allancoleman.
