In response to Saga or satellite? The syndicators can't have both posted by Kirk:

This would seem to confirm ABC dumped bob and the show is now syndicated. Wonder if all the items brought to the attention of the executives at ABC made them decide to drop him so when or if a scandal surfaced they would not get dragged into it???

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying Steve. I think ABC syndicates many of the shows it owns and Moneytalk is one of many. Dr. Edel's show on KGO is syndicated by ABC. Stations have the option of paying for the show or producing their own radio shows to fill the time.

My take on the article is the CEO of "Saga's Stations" said he won't carry Moneytalk on any of his stations (i.e. pay ABC a fee for the show) if ABC continues to make Moneytalk available to the Satellite companies.

As for scandal, that is good for ratings. Just ask Howard Stern about that. Think about it... you and others listen just to see if any callers get through the call screner and hit Bob with a tough question such as your UTEK question of years ago or someone hoping to bring up his QQQ and TEFQX recommendation near the peak of the bubble. Bob may not like it, but the owners of the show probably love it.

The show is now heard on stations that are not ABC affiliates. The CBS station in Seattle comes to mind. Seems highly unlikely ABC would permit this if bob was still "their boy".

Bob has been on KCMO in Kansas City, a CBS affiliate, since his show went national in 1986.

» RSREXX1 - BRINKER -- DRACH

New Brinker newsletter still bullish.Expects new cyclical bull market highs to develop this year.Out right buy under S&P 1120.Does'nt expect his timing model to turn bearish any time soon.

Also stock picker Dan Drach's timing model recently turned bullish after many many months of bearishness. Drach buys high quality stocks after they have been hammered and also uses a timing model. Many of you may know him from his visits with Paul Kangas on Nightly Business report. He has raised his stock investment level from 2% equities to 75% in the last three weeks. He may well move to 100% equity in the his weekly newsletter which comes out this weekend.

» hairie31 - Brinker sees a Rally

In response to BRINKER -- DRACH posted by RSREXX1:

Certainily, Brinker's calls since March, 2003 have been excellent.

Interesting, a buy under S&P 1,120 would only be a 8.35 % decline from
the high of S&P 1,222.12 on 3/4/2005. Not much of a decline.

Interest rates are rising making
low-risk, fixed investments more appealing going forward.

Also, the unfavorable six-month period is approaching in 3 weeks.

I'll be watching from the sidelines...should be interesting.

You are puzzling. Why are you watching from the sidelines if you are convinced that Brinker knows what is doing when he makes major market calls?

Brinker is for DCA over 1100 and for outright buying below that.

I'm not a big fan of Brinker's calls, but have enough respect for his major "sea" changes to stay in the market with my money when he is bullish.

YOu know about those "Sea" changes, don't you? What I don't recommend is when he has his "TRader-Jeans" on...

I agree, Steve. Brinker must "Wish" that he had stuck to the type of programming that he did so successfully for so many years.

If people really still "Dug" him, he wouldn't have to be asking himself, "Did Old "Hank" Really Do It This Way?" (Thank you, Waylon Jennings.)

» glh - Lest we forget

Bob cost me 250K with his QQQ "Buy Now" bulletin.
Lest we forget.
As for radio stations carrying his "show"
( I now realize it is an infomercial for his newsletter)
any station can have it if they pay, not just ABC stations.
ABC stations in the market might be given right of first refusal, but if they don't want it, then ABC will pitch it to the other stations in the market.

In response to Re: Lest we forget posted by Kirk:

I think Bob puts together some good macroeconomic analysis as well as helping the average investor. Counter trend QQQ moves are not about that basic skill and it shows.

Case in point is his stance on inflation. I heard him talk about it and I came to the same conclusion. When the FED first started to raise rates he kept his cool and noticed as did I it was to "normalize" rates and not chase inflation. I sold in March when long rates dipped below 4 but bought back in and made money in 2004 in bonds because I was also right about inflation. I also know he mentioned wages. You don't get inflation without wages going up. Many have this simple minded view on commodity prices = inflation. If it all leads to inflation, then how would real prices ever move? Inflation will move moderately as a little grease is needed to shift prices but there has to be a price war in the basic input of production to have a runaway train. I have watched wages like a hawk because this will close the loop but it has not happened yet and to Bob's credit that has been his view, its about the wages. I am waiting to move MM funds into short bonds because I have seen some movement in wages and find a little too much recruiting activity. That is why I moved out of high yield early this year. In short bonds you can ride out any mistakes so I may be a little sloppy and not worry so much. I would not be surprised to see an entry point this year if the labor market goes south. It is pretty basic but that is what it takes. It still goes over many people's head. Now calling QQQ tops and bottoms, and making money on a severe down trend going long is not anything I want to try . I think Kirk you are right, he wanted to find a reason to sell a news letter. Who would pay for the MM news letter?
