» Rob_Larsen - Bob Brinker, Jr.

I was getting into the car yesterday when I heard Bob answering a question from a male caller. All I caught was the tail end so I'm not sure what the conversation was about, but it sounded like it could have been something interesting. The gentleman asked about Bob Brinker, Jr. knowing about the timing model and Bob answering something about him doing a newsletter. Thanks for filling me in on what that conversation was about.

I can help you out. This is an excerpt from my newsletter which will be published this weekend. This is only a brief excerpt that addresses your question about Bob's timing model.

INHERITING BOB BRINKER'S LONG TERM STOCK MARKET TIMING MODEL

Caller: This caller told Bob that he is going to depend on him and his stock market timing model for the next 20 years. The caller asked Bob whether his son, Bob Brinker Jr. had any insights into the inner workings of the long term stock market timing model? Bob said that Bob Jr. has his own newsletter that deals with fixed income.

EC: Notice that Bob didn't really answer the question. As it turns out, I think I can offer a plausible response. Back in the day, I was in negotiations with Bob Brinker to post my "summaries" of his show exclusively on bobbrinker.com. (That was back when they had discussion boards which was pre-QQQQ days). Anyhow, I had many e-mail and telephone conversations with Bob Brinker Jr. at the time. He seemed to be a very nice fellow, and I recall that he told me that he often got asked that same question, but that he wasn't interested in following in the market timing footsteps of his father. In fact, Bob Jr. helped design bobbrinker.com and is a member of AdPad which is an information technology company that does web site development, custom software development, etc.

EC#2: Now, here is where it gets a little interesting. Not too long ago, Bob Brinker Sr. announced the creation of the "Brinker Fixed Income Advisor" which lists its editors as Robert M. Brinker (that's Bob Jr.) and Lisa J. Brinker. However, Robert J. Brinker (that is market timer Bob Brinker Sr.) is listed as a "consultant to the Brinker Fixed Income Advisor." Obviously, Bob Sr. lends his name and credibility, not to mention his advice, to his son's efforts in publishing the newsletter. The newsletter, as the name implies, focuses only on fixed income, so it is not competing with Bob Sr.'s stock market timing newsletter. You can learn more about the newsletter here:

[Link deleted by Kirk with David's permission... As Bobby Jr said... he wants to be a success on his own... so he can do his own newsletter advertising. Links to his site will be allowed as soon as he puts links to my newsletter on his web site.]

EC#3: I was really hoping that Bob would have said that apart from him, the person who best knows the inner workings of the long term stock market timing model is a guy in New Orleans named

Thanks David....I visited that www site via google. Seems pretty boring, but I guess that's what fixed income is all about. Twenty years ago Bob used to talk about his Bob Jr. getting his advanced degree in software engineering/computers and was advising others to do the same. I guess that Jr. is following in his dads footsteps. It will be interesting to see if he takes over the reins of the Market Timer, which by the way I am not a subscriber after getting burned in the QQQ without any guidance. I will be writing that loss off for years to come LOL. Life is short and I have no stress so I take it all in stride.

Thanks,

Rob

Mortimer, if I may. I can't argue with anything you said. Supply side economics do work and work well for the people. Actually it is quite easy, but high spending will always counter its benefits.
The Rx plan is so far from sound econimic policy it is sickening. You are right about either party, they are both so corrupt, neither is looking out for anything but their own personal gain.

You might have misconstrued the first paragraph of my post. It was actually a copy and paste from another's post. It looked like part of my text but was actually the basis for my reply, which is the same as yours.

Right or wrong, everyone alive has opinions on politics but lets keep this forum to talking about Brinker's ideas on how to make and keep our money.

The only reasons I brought it up are:

1. Bob mentioned it.

&

2. Taxes cost me and every other listener far more than any QQQ call.

Bob's politics turn off more and more listeners the rare times he is on these days.

» mrs1123 - Re: Re: Re: What Secular Bear Market?

Q3: "How many of Bob’s listeners did not return to fully invested in 2003 because they were not confident in his ability to call “counter trend rallies in secular bear markets?”

Answer: I didn't trust Bob's call to get back in the market because I didn't trust him after I lost money in thQQQ's's. I invested a much smaller percent than many here but still a loss is a loss. I did get out of the market fully in early 2000 because of Bob but still the trust wasn't there. Also I was waiting for MOABO. I never ever heard Bob announce MOABO was here and it was time to jump in the market. He spoke all the time about waiting for MOABO but when he said to get back in the market suddenly the term "MOABO" was forgotten. So I sat waiting for buying opportunity of a lifetime. Did MOABO come yet?

But Bob's call to return to the market didn't effect me. I was not in the S&P 500. Bob's calls apply to those in S&P 500 index funds. My mutual funds were barely effected and didn't see a 40% gain. So by not heeding Bob's call I didn't really miss out. But later in the year when the market tanked I jumped in with both feet and my funds have been on a bull run since then.

What bothers me is the way Bob is almost insulted by people who didn't listen to him and jump back in the market with his call in 2003. He almost acts like if you didn't listen to his call it is too late and you might as well stay in cash. But as we found out the market dipped again later in the year.

What I don't like is the way Bob talks in circles. From day to day I can't tell if he is bullish or bearish. Apparently we are still in a bear market that has been in a bullish trend? He is not consistent is his speech so his meaning is often lost on me. In a way Bob punishes you for not buying his newsletter. He will tell you to get back in the market on Saturday but he does not repeat the message on his Sunday show. So if you can only listen on Sunday you can easily miss a call to get back in the market or an opportunity hat he might speak of.

I was bullish up to two weeks ago but now I am ready to pull 100% out of the market.

I remember that confusion on march 2003 when no definite moabo was issued. Kirk here, was one of the person at least I know of that said there was a moabo. Might have been the other way around when kirk called the lows on oct 2002 and bob followed. smile
