Hi Becky! I just wanted to say that I support what you are doing. I am a mother of 5. With 3 grandkids allready.My oldest daughter died when she was 11. She had a liver disease. I am 55 now. 3 of my kids are adults now. 2 of them go in therapy. Probably kicked off by my divorce from my husband of 32 years. I am glad that they are in therapy now. They need it, I am sure. Alot has happened in their lives. But I grieve because they are saying that I used them during their childhood. I never realized my own dreams and took into account my own abilities. And therefore made it hard for them to find theirs. I hope that you will not meet with this when your kids get older. I mean it. But just ponder about it...LOVE-- posted by murphy82

I'm sorry about your daughter and the divorce. I bet both of those were really hard on you and your family. And 32 years is such a long time! Well, I applaud you for your commitment to mothering despite obstacles like that. I hope you are getting to realize some of those dreams and abilities now, while your grown children are pursuing their own.

It's perhaps the most undervalued job on the planet, but one of the most important ones. I find that I experience a great deal of discrimination as a young mother who quit college (temporarily) to devote herself to her children. My favorite question is undoubtably, "When are you going back to work?" Apparently, raising two active toddler boys isn't work. :D Thanks for bringing up a topic that so often gets overlooked.-- posted by Kristen Cardozo
