» jerrib - I'd love to see the map

on your living room wall, Susan. It looks incredibly beautiful. I love old maps and maps with drawings.

I didn't enjoy history much in school as a kid, but I, like you, enjoy learning about it as I get older (one should never cease to learn). I enjoyed your history lesson. Did you know early Washington State explorers brought along not only mapmakers but folks to draw the scenery?

I've enjoyed reading your articles from day one, which are very illuminating. You do such a professional job.

Happy New Year and I'll look forward to more in 2002.

Hi Jerri and Suzanne,

I, too, disliked learning about history when I was young, and boy do I regret not having taken more history classes when I had the opportunity. Perhaps as we age and we have histories of our own, we realize the value of the past!

The maps are gorgeous, and I enjoyed the accompanying "history lesson." I in no way mean to belittle the drawings with my following suggestion, but I wish a publisher would produce a 2002 calendar illustrated with old maps such as these. I would love to have a new one to stare at monthly and then to keep.

Best wishes Jerri and Suzanne for a prosperous 2002.

» Dubh_Sidhe - Old maps

Like Jerri, I would love to see it, too. This is a very interesting article. I have an old map of one of the counties in SC that dates to the late 1700's, but to have one that spreads out over a large area is fantastic.

Hi Jerri,
Yes I'm still here. Sorry to be so long in responding. I just moved (a major move) from the home where I raised my kids to a small condo. Whew! And also just got back from vacation. School has started - I'm taking a metalsmithing class. I love it. I know an article is due shortly - the clock is ticking. Thanks for stopping by!
