- Re: An impressive list,
Thanks for your feedback, Jerri. I figure this is a bit different from my usual format, but what the heck.
Always nice to hear from you.

Suzanne,I really enjoyed your article. Many of the illustrators listed are among my favorites - such as James Thurber and Howard Pyle.
Another favorite of mine is children's book illustrator and author Robert McCloskey. Are you familiar with him?
I rediscovered him recently in reading aloud to my children.

Oh yes I'm familiar with him - "Make way for Ducklings"! There is a marvelous sculpture of the ducks immortalized in his book at the Boston Public Garden. His illustrations are great.
Thanks for writing,

How could I possibly choose just one? They are all so wonderfully talented. There is room for all the different styles and I enjoy each in its own place and in its own way. The touching pictures of mother and children, the beautiful depths of color and imagination of Pyles illustrations, the lovely Gibson girls, the ultimate '60s look of Peter Max. I don't know enough about art to know if he qualifies to be listed anywhere near these but I have always enjoyed Maxfield Parrish (did I get the name right, I'm working from memory). I love his use of color and line. Thanks for bringing us this list and reminding us of artists we may not have thought of recently.

I love this one on illustrators. I am particularly fond of the illustrators of childrens' books, and I dearly love Greenaway. I had a terrific collection of Caldecot books because I loved the illustrations, and lost them when we moved from California East. This was so interesting. I subscribed tonight.
