is the ability to be quiet and listen to another person. Being heard is certainly empowering to a person--and probably moreso to victims of sexual assault.Listening with the intent of understanding from the speaker's point of view--empathy is a very rare commodity, but something we can each teach ourselves to do. It's really quite a gift, not only to the person speaking, but to ourselves as well.
