» biogardener - Help in the Phone Book
In Manitoba, help is as close as the telephone. All numbers which an abuse victim might need are clearly listed on page 1 of the Winnipeg phone book, and I imagine that all North America phone books have listings in similarly prominent places. Maybe you could check on that and post the information.Trained councelors and volunteers man the phone lines 24 hours a day to give assistance.

In response to message posted by biogardener:Thanks for your note.
I receive local telephone books from two different companies and took your advice.
Interestingly, I couldn't find anything in either White Pages (residential listings) directory, but did find information on page 3 in one Yellow Pages (business listings) directory and page 5 in the other. The telephone number was listed on a "Community Services" page in one case and a "How Do I.." page under "...Contact Hotlines" in another.
Both simply listed the national hotline number provided in my article. But it's a good thing to point out to folks since -- assumming that all phone companies follow suit -- a business directory is generally accessible.
Thanks again.
