Yucca: Rescue Or Cut

1) One of my Yucca (Yucca Elephantipes) branches have fallen over just under the head. It has become narrower in this area and softer, hence the collapse. The entire branch is a little shriveled as is the other branch. I'm afraid this will happen to it, as well. A few leaves are dry at the very tips. A week ago,I cleaned the plant with soap and a little rubbing alcohol, in case of insects, but it did not recuperate. Could it be a problem that my room temp (via an old water radiator)is often up to 78 - 80 F?2) Can I save the head or must I cut and try tpropogatete -- in which case, how DO propogatete it?
