» Saskatoon - Can I plant it in soil?

My lucky bamboo(Dracaena sanderana) has been doing well in a small dish of water for 18 months. I noticed that it had grown a large root so I potted it in a mixture of seed starting mix and tropical soil mix. I was hoping I would get a living plant that would take root and continue to live for many years to come. Is this correct or should I have just left it alone in its little jar of water? Also what light does it require? When it was just a cutting in water it was in an East window and seemed to do fine.

Regards,
Saskatoon

I'd say keep to your east window, where the parent plant was doing well. I don't know if you will see sprouting happen, but keep the soil very moist (not wet, which will incur rot). Or remove it from soil and try the water dish again. You might not get a second plant, but it's certainly worth a try. smile
