» buzzcook - My Peppers

Joe:
You and the people you link to are responsible for about 20 pounds of nice peppers I've picked so far from my six plants.
I planted a Big Jim, two Jalapeno, and three Jalapa plants this spring. To the best of my ability I followed your growing advice and just last week made a batch of sauce with the recipe you recommend on your site.
Even with our Pacific Northwest short growing season, a fairly cloudy summer, and a only partial sun location the plants produced all sorts of fruit. A couple of them even turned a nice red.
I work in a restaurant with a large broiler so roasted peppers were a standard menu item for us.
I made some Pesto and added roasted peppers and Pistachio nuts instead of Pine nuts and it was great.
Next season I plan to try a greater variety of plants. I might be able to open a plot with full sun.
Now for the questions, Can you recommend some other medium heat and size peppers that also have a short season like the Jalapas? Also if I put a cold frame around them can these plants over winter?

Well any way thanks for all the good advice.
