» Car - Project A vs. A II I've never seen Project A II, but I have seen Project A and really enjoyed it. I was thinking Project A II might be as good because, unlike a lot of Hollywood sequels, HongKong flicks sometimes actual get better. Now, I think I'll wait until I've gotten a chance to see a couple of others on my list. Thanks for the review Jonathan. -- posted by Car » JonathanLB - Cool I hope I am not being overly harsh on the movie, I would still give it 2/4 stars (not that good), but I just have to say that most every other Hong Kong action movie I have seen is better. You are right, sequels are often better. I have no doubt that Drunken Master II is better than Drunken Master. I have only seen the second so far, but I have the first one. I just have to see it. This week I will be reviewing a Jet Li movie, almost 99% sure it will be The Enforcer. Soon after, The Tai-Chi Master (Jet Li). I would wait on Project A II, see it eventually, but make sure you see most of the better movies before you bother to see Project A II. -- posted by JonathanLB » torayume - Re: Cool In response to message posted by JonathanLB:
Drunken Master II is a fine movie, the best of Jackie's later years, and sadly likely to be his last masterpiece, but it doesn't really bear comparison to the Prioject A movies. Nothing does. Newcomers to the HK scene. Check these movies out. I'm not the only critic who considers these Jackie's greatest moments. Actually Project A 1 is probably the aficianados favorite in general, but they're both phenominal. This IS the place to start for Jackie Chan. Only pity is nothing else quite lives up... -- posted by torayume » JonathanLB - Hmm...well to each his own I definitely thought Project A II was a bore, and one of the worst Jackie Chan films that I've seen. I wouldn't recommend it at all, and you would find VERY few critics who agreed that Project A II is better than Drunken Master II, which is widely considered Jackie Chan's best film, and often called the greatest Hong Kong action movie of all-time. I would have to disagree; Once Upon A Time in China II is the greatest of all-time, and the first part steals a close second, with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in third, and Drunken Master II coming in fourth.Project A II was just not very exciting, and definitely not funny. I'd like to see the first one, just to see if it is any better. -- posted by JonathanLB
