What a wonderful idea to plant trees to celebrate special dates in our lives. When I was active in DAR our chapter planted trees every Arbor Day. I really realished this article and I am ready to put out some Dogwood now. Has anyone else reported to you that all of your graphics are X'd out, or it is just me? This is on your welcome page also.

In response to message posted by Dubh_Sidhe:
Happy St. Valentine's Day to you! And thanks for your kind words...I'm so glad you enjoyed the article. Dogwoods would be perfect for your yard! With your nice (compared to N.E.) weather why not investigate some of the new cultivars? There's a beautiful variegated one named "Cherokee Sunset." You could check out some of my links for descriptions etc. and then see what you can purchase in your area.
You are the first person to tell me that my graphics files are not readable. This appears very strange coming from you with your beautiful pages. The ones you are referring to are "art files" from Cottage Graphics. I accessed my pages from my son's computer on Tuesday (2/12)and they came through all right and if anything, his computer is a stripped down model.

» biogardener - True love of the earth and its inhabitants

To me, planting trees is the most powerful way of showing my love to the earth and its inhabitants. In spite of the physical pain which I suffer on account of a disabling accident, I plant dozens of trees out in the country every year. I dig up little trees wherever they would be mowed down anyway, and I transplant them into my 20 acres of a prairie hayfield. I also stick willow branches into the soil in the part of the field which is under water all spring, and those look after themselves.

That is my gift of love to the world.
