» Thegirlsmama - Starting an animal sanctuary I am now pursuing my life long goal of starting an animal sanctuary, and I need tips on how to begin! How do I start, who do I talk to, legally what do I need? If anybody has any ideas or tips or people I can talk to, please let me know! I am a 26 year-old single female in CA and animals are my passion. I have 18 dogs and 8 cats right now under my care that were in need of help for one reason or another. Please contact me! jamieelawn@aol.com Thank you! God Bless!-- posted by Thegirlsmama » mjb0325 - Re: Starting an animal sanctuary In response to message posted by Thegirlsmama:The best way I have found after going about it on my own is to gothrough ann area rescue. Contact a few in your area and see if they will work with you. Bestfriendsswebsitee has a course and many ideas on the subject. Most foundations and grants will ask you for your tax exempt number which most rescues have. They don't give out grants toindividualss. You can approachtherresuee and as I have found many are interested in the same thing. But to get agrantt you will need to be self supportive and applyforr 501cc 3 tax status to getdonationss to support the sanctuary. Goingthrough aa rescue group as I have done openedmanyy doors for me. I have not got to the point of getting a property yet. But have the rescue support, became a member and the president is willing to help me write for a grant. They have written a letter to other area rescue which will be helpful withfundraiserss, food and volunteers. i will check back here and tell you my progress.melindaa pet Pals NE Inc.s Stray and feral Rescue Project. -- posted by mjb0325 » AsianAngel1985 - Re: Starting an animal sanctuary In response to Starting an animal sanctuary posted by Thegirlsmama:
