I recently saw a recipe to start moss growing between bricks. I think it had buttermilk.

If you know the recipe for this conconction would you post it for me.

Thanks!

Hi Kathryn! The recipes are varied, usually include a live culture buttermilk or yoghurt to which you add moss, whirr it in a blender to break up the moss and mix thoroughly, then paint it on the surface where you want it to grow. Add enough liquid to make it spreadable.

In my experience, this is really tough on the blender!

Also in my experience, it won't work unless the moss you are trying to introduce was collected from a spot with similar growing conditions to where you want to grow it. This would mean climate but also lighting and moisture and humidity AND the type of surface.

So you need to collect moss from a location very similar to where you want to start it.

Now, here is the interesting thing. Often, moss or algae will grow on brick all by itself if conditions are right. You would not need to introduce it at all.
