In response to message posted by Tich:

Hi Tich,

Although cedars and most evergreens that have been grown in containers may be planted at any time of the year, both spring and fall are the best times, and fall is better than spring. During these times of the year, there is usually more rainfall than in the summer (especially this summer!), and newly planted shrubs and trees need LOTS OF WATER to help them survive. Fall is better than spring for planting, because the plant roots have a head-start on the next season's growth. The one thing to keep in mind when planting in the fall, though, is to allow enough time for roots to develop before the ground freezes up. So, the latest date for fall planting is about 6-8 weeks prior to the date when the ground usually freezes in your region.

Good luck with your cedars, and remember to water, water, water!!!
