Plant a Mother's Day Tree!Read the article this discussion is about

» jerrib - What a great idea! I am a tree-lover from way back. We have had numerous disagreements around here about cutting trees on our acre of land. Now we have a developer neighbor lopping them down like grass, and it's hard on me. I come from a paper-making family, and trees were the source. But I still hate it when they are cut down. We Washingtonians love our trees on the west side!So planting one for Mother's Day is great. As a matter of fact, a once-a-year garden sale up the road will have trees on sale Saturday. My mother is no longer alive, but I can sure plant one in her memory! The zone info is great for folks, too. Jerri -- posted by jerrib » Minnie - Raw walnuts Hi Eileen,I really like your article. I don't have any trees other than a small lilac, cause my yard is really small. A friend just asked me if I would check and see if anyone knows what to do with raw walnuts. She loves her tree and expects to get some this year. -- posted by Minnie » Minnie - Thanks, Eileen I think she probably wanted to know if and how to roast them. No rush on the list, that could take a long time. That is really nice of you to do that.Oh yes, I realized I have a shaped black pine, as well as some babies now. I'm thinking of planting one tree near our front porch, but would have to dig out some large rocks, so am thinking of putting my baby lilac there, before the root ball gets too big. -- posted by Minnie
