» retroqueen - Ray Walston: Gone but not Forgotten I think it is a shame that many people never saw how good an actor Ray Walston was possibly because they could only identify him as Uncle Martin of "My Favorite Martian".At least that was the reason I did not know how good until I began to watch "Picket Fences" with Walston playing Judge Henry Bone. He was gruff, he was fair and he was compassionate in this role. He slowly began to grow on me. I am surprised that you did not mention "Of Mice and Men". He played the role of Candy along with Gary Sinese, and John Malcovitch. A marvelous film. I thought that he played the role with a great understanding and with great humanity. I cannot remember the year the film was released unfortunately. You mentioned that Gary Sinese played along with Walston in the adaptation of Stephen King's "The Stand". Also an excellent series. I wrote a letter to Mr. Walston, but I did not know where to send it so I attempted to send it via "Ally McBeal". I doubt now if he ever recieved it. It is a shame that all of the older actors are now passing away and that younger generations might not get to know them. -- posted by retroqueen
