» leradv - North by Northwest plot I have seen this movie several times and frankly, I wasn't much impressed. I thought some of the plot devices were silly and contrived. For example, okay, we, the bad guys, have lured the unsuspecting hero to a deserted area in the middle of nowhere. Now, how do we get rid of him? How about a car with one guy, a shotgun and a shovel? Nope. We outfit a cropdusting airplane with an illegal and hard to obtain machinegun and tell him to fly around and kill anyone in the open. THAT makes sense, doesn't it? Even if it works, who can say he missed the bus and we get farmer Jones, whose truck broke down a mile away? Or how about Eva Marie Saint electing to decend a sheer rock cliff in high heels, a tight skirt and carrying her purse? Anyone else but me find that slightly ridiculous?-- posted by leradv
