The video lecture I ordered has not arrived. Must've got stuck in the holiday mail someplace. As soon as I get it, I'll be back with my first impressions.

Thanks for the update, Phil - I was waiting patiently (well, almost patiently) for a report smile

I'll have to send Reiki to the mail to make sure it gets there! LOL

Have a great night,
Dar

» Pinky102 - This Is Pretty Deep Stuff

.
This is pretty deep stuff; but, I'm starting to get a handle on it.

Those of us who understand hypnosis are familiar with the ideas of imagery.

Achterberg touches on several concepts in her opening interview with Dr. Mishlove. For example, here are the ones I recall; bifurcation, imagery, altered states, shamanism, the holographic brain, belief, the body-mind relationship and, existing in two worlds at the same time. Woof! A lot to process.

I've watched the first third of the tape which is an introduction to the remaining two thirds of it. I think some of the people who frequent this site are familiar with much of what is being presented by Acterberg. One of the things she is attempting has to do with doing controlled studies and their replication.

It would be difficult for me to expound on what she has to offer. But, I'll try to answer any questions.

Phil, I'm interested in knowing whether this is a new study/practice, or whether it's more wide-spread? I'm wondering if she comes off as "new-agey" or of this practice is going to be respected and used by more conservative folks? I'm awfully excited about it, and I'm hoping that her research is going to be widely accepted so that doors will open to alternative therapies and practices.

Existing in two worlds at the same time - can you tell more about this?? Very interesting! smile I'll bet it IS a lot to process - I think I'm going to have to order the tapes - do you have a link?

Thanks for sharing!

Two worlds at the same time.

She talks about how shamans are able to enter an altered state while they, also, remain in the world of the person(s) with whom they are working. I don't think she comes off as "new-agey" if I understand what you mean.

I'll get a link for you.
