Meg, what a lovely article you have written! I remember long ago hearing about Samantha’s letter to President Andropov, his response, and her subsequent visit to the Soviet Union. While reading your article, I started thinking about Anne Frank. Both Samantha and her seemed to have a childlike faith that people could be good. I wasn’t aware that Samantha’s efforts for peace had continued past her letter. I also hadn’t realized that she'd died in a plane crash. How unfortunate, for we need more people like her in the world.
