I remember my teacher, Mrs. Houghton, being called out of the room. When she returned, her face was ashen and she quietly told us the President had been shot. The shock left the class and the rest of the school in absolute silence. -- posted by Tina_Coruth » Red - Re: Kennedy Assassination In response to Kennedy Assassination posted by JButler:Joy, Yes, it is a day that we'll never forget. Like Tina, I was in the 8th grade and remember it like it was yesterday. Even the boys were shocked. A tragedy for sure. -- posted by Red » Red - Re: Re: Kennedy Assassination In response to Re: Kennedy Assassination posted by Tina_Coruth:Tina, That is a day that we will never forget. Imagine us, who were so young and carefree at the time remembering a part of history. There was so much that went on in the 60's. President Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy, the Kent State shootings. I remember them all so well. The decade was one of upheaval, that is for sure. Even the 70's rocked a little with race riots in Detroit etc. Thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy your visits. By the way, how is Kevin? Drop me an e-mail, please, when you can. -- posted by Red » Barbara Nicholson Bell - Re: Re: Re: Kennedy Assassination In response to Re: Re: Kennedy Assassination posted by Red:I remember it too - I was in eighth grade, and I remember when the news was learned we were also at our lockers, between classes. I remember one girl laughing - and we all turned on her with glares and hissing. Mary, I am curious to hear that your school was called Onondaga! I live in Onondaga county in New York State, near the Onondaga reservation. -- posted by Barbara Nicholson Bell » Red - Re: Re: Re: Re: Kennedy Assassination In response to Re: Re: Re: Kennedy Assassination posted by bici:Barbara, I live in southern Ontario, just outside the Six Nations Reserve. Of course one of the Six Nations tribes were the Onondaga. Tehre is a little village on this side of the Grand River named Onondaga. Population around 200. That's where I went to school. -- posted by Red
