Sharon,

What a great article AND a great idea for a Suite 101 topic!

I just returned from a trip to Paris, so this article struck a particular chord with me. I visited Versailles and stood in the room where Marie Antoinette spent the last night of her life. Such an amazing place with a rich, rich history.

I've subscribed to this topic and can't wait to read the rest of your articles!

In response to message posted by writer111:

Lisa,
Thanks so much! I felt compelled to write something in vindication of Marie Antoinette. The way her life was ended just enraged me especially after I found out that she did not say "let them eat cake." I saw a documentary on her life once where it said that when they were leading her to the wagon to take her to the guillotine, she was so sickened with fear that she had to stop and relieve herself in the corner of the courtyard in front of the guards. Somehow I feel so sorry for her even though she did make mistakes during her reign.

This was an interesting presentation! I thoroughly enjoyed it and was disappointed when it came to an end. Poor Marie! What star sign was she?
