» StateOFranklin - Historically accurate plants.

I am active at several historical sites in East Tennessee. I have noticed that many of the gardens have plants which would not have been present in the origional setting. I would like to discover what would be accurate for a 1775-1800 garden in our area. Any ideas, references, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Jim,
You might want to check out the Thomas Jefferson Center for Historic Plants at http://www.monticello.org/chp/
Besides a number of articles on historical plants, they offer books on Jefferson's own gardens and seeds for many of the plants which were grown at the time.
