Thanks for the neat and interesting article. I enjoyed it very much. Have you ever made Fig Pudding? I have several times / several different recipes. It is a lot of work...I'm probably one of the few people I know who really likes this sort of food item.

Thanks, Georgene! Yes, I made figgy pudding one Christmas--just for the fun of it. If I recall correctly, I used one of the older recipes that called for suet. I'm used to the flavor myself, since my mom has always made suet pudding for my dad at least once or twice a year.

And, Jerri, I also tried making some cookies similar to Fig Newtons once. I think they actually tasted better than the store-bought ones, probably because they were fresher. But I must admit that they looked kind of strange--probably because rolling out dough has never been my strong point!
