I have a close friend originally from a farm in R.I., who maintains a line of flint corn (true white outer and inner layers, not colored) which he grows, harvests, hulls, and then strips and grinds the kernels into corn meal. He and his wife typically use the meal to make R.I. Journey (Johnny) Cakes. A coffee can of corn meal is a typical birthday present from them -- posted by Georgene A. Since I live on a farm, I'm been seeing corn--both sweet and field varieties--all my life. But I never realized how many types there are until I started reading up on corn history.
