Opal caught my eye, as it is my birthstone. Nothing is more beautiful than a Fire Opal. The only opals I have ever seen that I really would like to have cost too much. LOL! I collect garnets, because I love their colors, thought I do not have too many. I enjoyed your article on opals. It was very informative.

Thanks Dubh! Opal is my birthstone too and you're right - the best stones cost a LOT. Fire opals are gorgeous, and I've also seen some beautiful black opals - the color is ablaze in good ones. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Hi there, Jerri! I was just thinking about you, and then I had to remember to come back and tell Anita, that I had forgotten about the Black Opal, and that I have never seen one. This is a wonderful topic and I am going to subscribe.

Thank you Virginia! You brought such a smile to my face. Where do you get all these great graphics? You have such wonderful pictures - even moving graphics - on your Folklore site, and I can't even figure out how to get a single still picture posted. You must be a whiz with the computer.

Thanks for the charm, I love it!

Yet another fascinating article! I was looking forward to this one all month. I'veheard that one shouldn't buy an opal for oneself, or it will be bad luck. I didn't know all the historical myths associated with them. I'm a little nervous about wearing the opals I do own. As always, thanks for another great article. Merry Christmas!

Jerri,
It doesn't sound like a coincidence at all. Interesting...

Anita,
Have you ever bought yourself an opal? Have you ever had any weird or bad occurrences after procuring one? I've never seen a black opal. Hmm. Something I'll be looking for next time I browse a jewelry store. Doubt I'll buy one, (or any opal), though. I don't need any bad luck. Great article and discussion!

Hi Marie,
No, I've never bought myself an opal, but I've received quite a few as gifts because opal is my birthstone. Nothing negative has ever happened to me that I can attribute to an opal, but then again, it *is* my birthstone, so I should be safe...shouldn't I? smile

Thanks for your comments! Have a Happy New Year.
Anita
