» katrinko - July 4th Another terrific article! Thank you for reminding us why we celebrate Independence Day and the rest of the story behind it.I just read in the book, THAT'S NOT IN MY HISTORY BOOK! (I forget the author), that On July 4th, 1776, the Continental Congress were meeting at Independence Hall (then named something else?)to go over the wording of the Declaration. They were quibbling about the wording, and the discussion got heated. It was a hot and humid day, and they had the windows open to let in some air. What came in was a swarm of horseflies from another stable. As they were trying to kill off the horse flies, one of the congressmen said he thought the wording was fine. Everyone else agreed, and they adjourned. So now you know the rest of the story. Looking forward, as always, to your next article. Your articles don't come soon enough. I think if schools taught more of the "story behind the story", kids would remember history lessons a lot more easily - and a lot longer. Good hearing from you, -- posted by anitastratos
