» Busman8428 - Twin Eagles Trail head- Access to Lost Creek Wilderness... This article is inaccurate in many respects. First, there ARE facilities at the trail head. Park next to the foot bridge where you normally would, then walk back toward the campsites in the direction of HWY 77. Second, the distance Virginia traveled, from viewing her pictures, she only made it about half way to the border of Lost Creek. Keep going another 3/4 mile till you come to another fork in the trail and you will find yourself in the largest stand of Aspens I have ever seen in Colorado. And third, the shiny flecks in Tarryall creek are NOT fools gold, but Mica. Although Tarryall creek was renowned for its gold dust 150 years ago, what you will see in the creek today is Mica. Not to say you couldn't find any gold dust, you would just have to dig for it. In the several years I have been going here, I have never seen any fools gold (Iron Pyrite). The best place for that is Summit County outside of Breckenridge- if you look in the right places theres more than you can carry. I frequent Twin Eagles trail head for the sole purpose of minerals and rock hounding. One can find some of the best Smoky Quartz, Fluorite, and Topaz in the state in this area....-- posted by Busman8428
