Remember that Xena hasn't met Alti yet. She seems to have become gentler through knowing Lao Ma and Akemi: some walls broke down. Then after Akemi she probably threw herself into battles and into being with Borias to forget those women who touched/hurt her.They travel on to Siberia, meet Amazons and Alti. Alti re-awakens Xena's passion but in a bad way: lust for power. This is the beginning of the end for the spark of goodness xena might have developed. When Xena has her baby and brings it to the centuars, I think that's the last moment of rational thought Xena has for a long, long time. Too many hurts and betrayals to forget, too much land to conquer instead.I don't know where the Norselands fit into the timeline. Before or after Japan, or Siberia?
But we do know that Xena returns to Greece to basically become a petty warlord after Borias dies, and that she does that for ten years. I quess in that time she put aside any inner "light" in favor of carnage, and she was not touched again until Hercules showed her compassion.
It's been a long ride.
