Subject: Contraindications for cayenne pepper?
I take 1 capsule/day cayenne, and spend about an hour with burning agony of the stomach, and feeling nauseous.
The herbals say to take 1 tablespoon/day.

Can someone explain this very bad reaction

I don't know if you are having an allergic reaction or if there is some other explanation, but if you are having burning agony of the stomach even momentarily after taking a cayenne capsule you should stop using cayenne and consult a health care professional about the reaction you are getting to the capsule and also about the original health concern for which you have decided it is necessasry to take cayenne. Such a strong reaction is your body's way of telling you something is wrong. It is best to listen to your body when it communicates, if you want to stay alive and healthy. The cayenne is apparently too hot for your body. Everyone of us is different. We have to respect the individuality of our bodies. Cayenne might be beneficial to someone whose constitution were colder than yours, but apparently its heat is too much for your stomach.
If your body really needs the action of the cayenne, an MD might be able to prescribe a medicine that safely meets that need or a qualified herbalist can prescribe you a combination of herbs designed to meet the need without injuring your stomach. Qualified herbalists seldom recommend extremely hot or cold herbs to be taken singly in large doses.

You should never take cayenne in capsule form. The reason you are cramping is not because of the cayenne being bad for you. Cayenne should ALWAYS be taken in a liquid. Part of the healing of cayenne is released through the cayenne on the mouth as you drink it in a warm liquid, water, broth or tea. When you drink the cayenne the stomach has time to prepare itself for the hot cayenne and it coats itself to prepare to receive something hot. When you take the capsules your stomach does not know that something hot is coming and when the gel on the capsule melts then POW! the cayenne gives you stomach cramps. A friend and I have been using cayenne for a few weeks and his stomach has been almost totally healed to the point that he no longer has to take digestive enzymes. The cayenne is very healing, it should never be taken in capsule form though.

i also have the same reaction when i take cayenne. i am experiencing it right now actually, thats what brought me here. I am glad i am not the only one. But anyways, ive thought and thought about and i came to the conclusion that my body is not used to hot foods like cayenne. This makes sense to me because i never eat spicy foods at all, so in turn i was wondering if you are the same way?
do you enjoy spicy foods using cayenne for cooking?
do you eat them on a regualr basis?
like i said before, i never eat these types of foods, such as hot sause, peppers of anykind and anything hot at all
