Cayenne Pepper...Medicine That's Nothing to Sneeze At!Read the article this discussion is about

» LadyB - My favorite use of Cayenne A couple of winters ago when a bout of bronchitis just PLAGUED me, I discovered the wonders of Cayenne TINCTURE. Oddly, it was hard to find because it was the only one labelled TINCTURE CAPSICUM and would invariably be off with the T's instead of under 'C'.At first I could only handle maybe 3-4 drops at a time, realized it's even BETTER in something HOT and eventually began to add it daily to my COFFEE! I'm not kidding, it's GREAT! You feel it RIGHT AWAY in your lungs, all warm and happy. I've never had it upset my stomach at all and I do drink my coffee BLACK. (I'm not sure how it would cancel out the milk.....yecch). If you think about your body's reaction to a real snootful of hot peppers in your food, you'll realize that your nose runs. Cayenne is a supreme mucous-thinner, making it just SPLENDID for outrunning a cold that is trying to happen or to get sluggish sinuses DRAINING again. I got SO fond of it that coffee is just boring without it and you know what? LAST year I did not have one single cold ALL winter long. No flu (and no shot), not so much as a sniffle....so there may be something to it. And it SURE can't hurt the old ticker. Nice stuff!(I'm up to 7 drops in my coffee and 12-15 if I need a real BLAST to open up lungs) -- posted by LadyB » Azyza - Wow! Thanks for sharing this!! I'm all for any natural ways to avoid cold and flu season, I may have to give this a try ;-)Currently, I use it with great success to releave cramps, just in the ground spice form, and I'd imagine the tincture form would be a bit easier on the stomach. I'll have to go look for it! Thanks again!! -- posted by Azyza
