» LadylegsD - Favorite Halloween story

I saw for the first time Nosferatu. It isn't my favorite, Mercy Brown is the one intriguing to me, but since Nosferatu was made in 1922 and was the first it was somewhat incredible. Vampires always seem to fill my tv for Halloween. So I would say vampires are my favorite Halloween villian/story.

I think it's a bit intriguing that the superstitions of the day did not also include investigating the father. They say that Mercy was not decomposed, but she was the last to succumb to her illness. I wonder, why did they not question the father, for he was the only one left alive. Never have I heard about Mr. Brown being questioned as to why his whole family waas dropping like flies, but he was untouched.

I've just read the articles on Mercy Brown, and I think that it was a tuberculoses bacteria that killed every-one. It is great to believe in it because its magical but sometimes you have to use reality also. I've been to her grave and recorded sounds and there was some unusual and unexplained sounds, but I'm not so certain she was or is a vampire. Maybe she is not at rest because of this folk lore and as far as questioning the farther for what you have to die first to become a vampire. And their deaths were not murder associated obliviously.

I truly believe that it was a form of cancer that hit the Brown family. I also believe that people were cruel to implicate a family member. Back in those times, we did not have the knowledge of modern medicine. Given all of the symptoms that the family encountered, I am lead to believe that it is a form of cancer. It could very well be that Mr. Brown was not infected because cancer is not contagious. Mrs. Brown may have been the gene carrier of the cancer.
They all suffered from weakness, deterioration, and what appears to be anemia. All of these things are common in people who have cancer that goes untreated. Think realistically, why were no other cases similar to the Brown's??? Cancer is a genetic disorder that kills. Back in those days, cancer was unheard of. Add it up! smile

In response to message posted by Cheragain420:

I appreciate your responses but I only wrote the myth of Mercy brown. It was possibly TB but I wanted to write about the myth of the only woman to be declared a vampire in american history whether true or not.
