Low protein diet - usually recommended for those with cirrhosis. If a person has fibrosis, they they need some high quality protein to help the liver repair itself - so they can indulge in moderate sized portions of steaks, roasts, etc. Vegetarians can pig out on red beans and rice.

A liver biopsy shows how much liver damage you have and you can adjust the protein accordingly.

I wouldn't touch green tea. I'm on the combo treatment and can't remember why right now, but I do know our house rule about green tea is "Run from it."

And I think the recommended dosage for milk thistle is about 300 mgs/day. Milk thistle is great, but shouldn't be mixed with prescription drugs that a person may be on for liver problems.

BTW, I lowered my liver enzymes a great deal during the summer by eating a lot of melons and drinking fresh-squeezed lemonade. I'm looking forward to melons being back in season!!!
