I went from being late (I think is was a week or two) to spotting for almost four months to not getting a period for almost six months. I ask my gyno several times if all this had anything to do with the patch she assured me it didn't, but I was regular before I went on it. I don't like to annoy anyone but during the past couple years i have called and visited my gyno several times. They do seem to want to see me now, they say there is nothing more they can do I have to see a fertility specialist (which of course my insurance will not cover). Frankly I am not even sure if I want to get pregnant right now, all I want is to be regular so we can plan what we want to do next. I was told I had a hormonal imbalance, and my primary care physician would have to take care of it, but he told me my gyno has to take care of it. I stopped the patch and did not have a period for about 5 months. Once I did have periods they were VERY heavy and had HUGE blood clots, which I never had before. I recently went to the doctors and got tests done and was told "Your ovaries are not working properly". I have to go back to the doctors on (2/10/2006) for more tests. I am 23 years old and would like to have children one day but now I am unsure that I will be able to concieve. Every time I think about all of these health problems that I have, I get depressed and wish that I would have never gotten on the patch. I started the patch about last Nov 04 and stop taking them this month in december 05 because of leg problems etc ... now i am off of them i have had break through bleeding as welll . I have had certain symptoms while on OE(othra evra)like numbness in legs, leg cramps, moodiness, stomach pains not severe but some weird feeling and also dizziness. You know how you have that feeling that something is wrong but you dont know what well that is me. I want to get a full body check up. How are you doing? and what are they doing to treat this clot for you ? Since day one I noticed mood changes, palpitations and now, I even get severe migraines if not wore on scheduled day. I want to get off in the next couple of mo as I want to get pregnant. But, after reading all the posts seems like it is going to be a hassle.Now, I am even more confused with all the recent updates about the elevated Estrogen levels on it, as it seems like a reasonable explanation to some sort of weird inflammatory process -lupus like- I have beensufferingg over the last 1-2yrss. I was suspicious of thismedd when I started it as it made me feelawkwardd,now most upper limbs joints are achy, I am tired all the time and sometimes depressed for no reason. Recently went in to Ortho for upper limbs and shoulder pains, lab work showed super elevated ANA antibodies.( actually abnormally high even for Lupus and I really don't have the rest of the Lupus Sypmptoms ) As per MD, there is some sort of inflammatory process caused by something that is triggering an imbalance. Family Dr recommmended to stress it to both Rheumatologist on my first OV this week and to GYN on 1/18/06. -- posted by casiopeajones » curious5272 - new to the patch I really need someone to help me i was on the pill for two months and it really helped my skin.I start the patch next week will it do the same. I am only on birth control for regulation but the pill was making me sick....so my doctor gave me the sample pack of the patch .....-- posted by curious5272 » kris333 - Re: new to the patch My only advice to you is to not use the patch! It has screwed up so many people, in so many ways, I would avoid using it at all costs! If you ever want to have children, there are other forms of birth control for now, and I would suggest those options first. I find all very helpful in making my decision today. I have always read postings and review but never written one myself.So here it is: I'm 24. I never use any other form of hormonal BC before. I understand the patch and the pill both have side effects. I chose the patch because it was very convenient, easy and 99% effective against pregnancy. I was thinking WOW this is great. After just 5 days on the patch my side effects are Migraines, blurred vision, weakness, fuller midsection, loss of libido, very nauseous, no vomiting but alot of gagging, pressure from my throat, chest, and down to my pelvic, and excessive tiredness. I do have a loss of appetite but some how I feel like i'm lugging alot of weight. I'm not sure how because I have been eating alot less. I'm thinking maybe just alot of water weight. I notice having a fuller midsection, and fat rolls on my sides. I feel yucky and I can't stand it anymore. At first i was very excited to use the patch. I know i'm wimpy about the side effects. I know it will go away. The whole time I thought it was just me having all these body problems. After I read some reviews I guess I am not the only one that feel this way. I'm iffy about trying out another form of hormonal contraceptive. I never took birth control pills before.
