I was recently diagnosed with Graves Disease/hyperthyroidism even though I have no other risk factor except being female of child bearing age. Through my research I cam across John Johnson's site www.ithyroid.com. His experience leads him to believe that estrogen and mineral deficiencies can lead to Graves. Since I was on the patch for a while, I'm beginning to think it may have led to my Graves.

What is interesting to note is that Graves Disease can lead to infertility. If you are having trouble getting back to normal or getting pregnant, I would get a full set of Thyroid blood tests and follow up with an endocrinologist. Even if you had tests recently, get them done again. My tests were normal last December and now they are off the charts.
