I have been on the patch for about 3 weeks now and put my first patch on the first day of my period Monday August25th. It is still going on now to this day...which is WAY TOO LONG for me. What is going on?? Does anyone have the same issue??? Is this normal??? As a matter of fact, if you can't reach your physician, the pharmacist who filled the prescription might be able to help you. The doctor asked me if I thought the inability of the skin to absorb the medicine would be the answer to why the patch was not working as it should. Most people don't realize that their skin needs to be conditioned in order to absorb medicines through it. We have abused our skin so much with commercial soaps and cosmetics that our skin rejects substances placed upon it. Bring this up to your doctor and ask if a skin food compound would be the answer to get your skin in the condition to do what it is designed to naturally. I am glad you brought this up because more people need to realize that it may be the condition of their skin not allowing full absorption and not the fault of the medicine. I am convinced that tallow soap is one of the worst things for the skin when it comes to people getting their medicine through a patch. -- posted by candleman13 » biogardener - I don't understand. Something does not make sense to me. If the patch isn't working, then you should have stopped menstruating at the normal time and not go on bleeding. That at least is what I thought you meant when you said that it is still going on. Or do I have to use a condom?-- posted by mommy2kaitlynm » nikki05 - Re: The Patch Recently, my local Enquirer reported that the patch is 3 times more likely to cause blood clots than the pill. It also had quotes and commentaries from local doctors and physicians that mostly agreed that it is not worth further investigation. I was infuriated!! (to say the least). The patch has caused many young women to experience pulmonary embolisms as well as strokes and can lead to death.
