» shirin1968 - depo

In response to depo posted by johnsonrc:

Hi Johnsonrc,

I had the Depo shot once back in 1994 and HATED the side effects, but I wanted to respond to your question about the "installation" of the IUD. I gave birth to my second son in Feb of 2006, and the midwives suggested an IUD called Mirena for a postpartum form of birth control. I followed their advice and had it put in, and it really wasn't bad at all. It was a bit uncomfortable while she was doing it, but not terrible, and I only had a little cramping for a few days afterward. There is intermittent spotting in the beginning, but I had much worse than that after the Depo shot. I don't know about it's effects on hypertension, but it could be something to look into. Hope this helps a little!

» Rhondell - What has Depo done...

In response to What has Depo done... posted by Heather82:

Hi heather,

My name is rhondell, I got on depo when I was in high school I am 27 years old now. I stopped depo when I was 21 and i got pregnant three months after stopping. I carried my baby until 7 months and then I lost my baby he was still born. this happened july 17th of 2000. I got my period in august and was pregnant again in september of 2000. May 12 2001 i gave birth to a baby boy 7 pounds and 1 ounce. (very healthy). Now I am not completely sure if having a still born was a result of being on depo but I was very healthly and it was a great shock to my doctors because there was no sign of any thing being wrong with me or the baby. I recently got married on July 22, 2006. My husband is in the military and in medical school so I got back on depo. The plan was to get the shot at least 2 time so that by the time he graduates (september 2007) we would be ok (no stress)but I am starting to have symptoms such as headaches, nausea, always tired, and eating every thing in sight. I don't think that I am pregnant even though these are some of the sign but the funny thing is I got these symptoms when I stopped the shot. I was due for my second shot the end of January beginning of Febuary(2007), so I know I am not pregnant or atlease I think I am not theres always that 1 percent chance. I say all of that to say this. You will be able to have another baby just don't think about it, what happens is you will start to stress from worring and you will never get pregnant stressing. My husband and I are actully tring now to get pregnant but I have to wait until I recieve my period. Good luck to you and yours. Stay in prayer for a healthy baby.
P.s. This will be my third time getting the depo shot and each time it only took 2-3months before I recieved a regular cycle.

» price71 - still having trouble

I was wondering if any one is having problems with hair loss. I was due to have another shot Jan 11, 07 but didn't go back in. I started to notice LOTS of bald spots and lots of hair loss everyday. Along with joint pain and many other side affects. Now I had to go in for blood work to check my thyroid, I've never had any trouble with it but the doctor tells me that it also is a side effect. How many other side effects are there? Going crazy!!!

» needadvice19 - the break up

I have been with my partner for 6 years and he was my first partner I am 23 yrs old. We have a 2 year old child and I no longer want to be with him. We constantly argue and I cant stand to be around him any longer. I do love him and always will but I have lost a lot of respect for him over the years. I am a full time mother and he constantly makes me feel as though I dont do enough and everything i do is not right. He doesnt spend enough time with our child and when he does it is like a chore and tallies it up like he is doing me a favor. I want to break up but because he is living with me and we have a child I will feel guilty but I just cant stand to live with him any longer. I just dont know how to go about it I have told him I am not happy and I want to break up but he just doesnt listen . I feel stuck, depressed and frustrated. . If anyone has any advise i would really appreciate it.

» price71 - Labs back in

I finally got back my lab results on my Thyroid after being on Depo for alittle over a year. As you all have read my hair was falling out and I was finding bald spots everywhere on my head I am no longer able to wear my hair down in order to hide the baldness very scary but the results come back that my Thyroid is perfect so the doctor said my hair should (not would) grow back in about 9 to 12 months. He also told me to take prenatal vitimans so I'm crossing my fingers that this does work. Will keep all of you updated, in the mean time just keep an open eye on your scalp this happen so fast I can't tell you how fast like in three weeks it just fell out never had any trouble SCARY!!

» jtegges - Over ten years and depo

In response to Over ten years and depo posted by als1211:
Dear als,
I am 24 and have been taking Depo for 6 years and as a result have had every area of my life affected in horrific ways. I have initiated a conversation with a New York lawyer who is doing research regarding Depo and, specifically, a link to osteoporosis. I am unsure if this gentleman is aware of the many other debilitating side affects we Depo users have in common. I am speaking to said lawyer about initiating a law suit against the makers of Depo. I believe it may have more of an impact were we, the affected, to get together and set forth a class action suit. Please write back and tell me what you think. This drug NEEDS to be taken off the market! Anyone else interested in the possibility of joining a class action suit please reply or email me directly at jtegge1@yahoo.com

In response to Over ten years and depo posted by jtegges:

I was on depo for 5 years. At first it was great, not having a period and all that good stuff. Then after about one year or so, my paps started coming back abnormal. At one point, I had to have a biopsy because there was indication of cancer. Ever since I have been off of depo, which was around Oct/Nov of 1999, my paps have been normal ever since. I attribute the bad paps to depo because of the fact that it interferes with a woman's "normal" cycle. When you have no periods, where are the bad cells to go? Answer: nowhere. I am ALL for taking it off the market and a class action suit. Women are losing babies or unable to conceive, having abnormal bleeding, abnormal paps, and, in my case, getting cancer scares.
