CONDOMS!!!!! The shot is not worth your health. Plus the long term effects are relentless. I have been off of the shot since April and I am still having health problem and I also have Thyroid. Trust me I have gone through a lot emotionally and stress is not foreign to me but the Deppo was been hell on earth.

» MEKA101983 - Depo-Provera and Teen Depression

In response to Depo-Provera and Teen Depression posted by KLutz461:

My name is Shameka and I was on the Depo for a litle over a year. That has been over 2 years ago and I still haven't had a regular menstrual cycle. I've been to doctors to try to regulate my cycle twice. Each time it comes on for a month and never returns. At this point I don't know what to do. Maybe someone can me out.

» logansmommy - depo shot

Ok, so I've tried the depo shot once before. It was about 4-5 years ago. I didn't have much luck on it and didn't go back for my second shot. I had bled the whole 3 months, had severe depression where it was hard for me to care for my kids at the time, and I had gain weight like crazy. But I thought it was just cause I had been so young (only 19) so now, at 28 years of age, I decided to try it again after the birth of my baby recently. My experience was not quite the same but I still don't like the depo. I,too, have friends who have been on it and they have no problems. But mine started from delivery of my son. I had hemoraged after and though I was given a shot to help my uterus to contract and stop the bleeding, I continued to bleed for two weeks after delivery. I went in to my doctor to see if I had to get a D&C or whatever its called when you still have placenta left and they have to scrape it out of you. But my doctor said there was no infection, instead she suggested the depo because it would stop the bleeding and also solve my birth control method. Well I got the shot but continued bleeding the same. Plus I started gaining weight even though I was breastfeeding and on a diet. So three weeks later I went in early for my postpartum checkup to get the bleeding checked out. Then she put me on estrogen pills to help level me out and hopefully stop the bleeding. It was a weeks worth. I took it but still did not stop bleeding. On top of that I got a yeast infection which in 28 years of my life I have never had! Then my mood swings started. I was paranoid, depressed beyond control, lost interest in sex (and I've always been a very sexual person), and gained even more weight. Finally into my last month of this first shot, the bleeding has stopped. I now experience back pains that are constant. I don't think that the depo is such a good idea for any woman. I've been reading about it and researching pro's and con's but to me, there are more con's to it. And now I worry about getting pregnant while on it. Some women have had that happen and I'm afraid that I could be one. I've had a total of 5 children, my second just close to the end of the very first depo shot. Has anyone had a pregnancy still happen even on the depo?

» rabbitbonnie - is nonstop bleedin normal?

I'm 22 and I took my 1st shot 2 months ago. Like some of you, I went through depression - I even slashed my wrist at some point. The other problem is I have been bleeding excessively: I have been bleeding for 3 weeks (heavier than normal, blood clots). Sometimes I even have to change tampons every hour. I've never bled so heavily in my life and it's starting to worry me even though I've read on here that it might be normal.

Are a lot of you having the same problem?? Should I consult a doctor about the bleeding or is it normal?? Please help!!

I haven't been able to loose more then 5 lbs and it's been 9 months that I've been off of the shot. Deppo is very intense and with the extreme amounts of hormones in your body it is next to impossible to loose weight.

» bellanotte - Depo Detox??

In response to Depo side effects posted by DepoDespiser:

I, too, am very interested in learning about detoxing the Deop poision from my body. I got my first shot in Jan/05 and last March/05. I bled every single day for about 7 months, then had no period at all. I have been taking a daily Antioxidant and I get my period on time every month now. Most of the other horrible side effects are gone, except the weight gain! I live a healthy lifestyle and still gained over 30lbs. I can't loose it. I have tried everything from very unhealthy aneroxia (And was still gaining weight??) to working out countless hrs at the gym, fasting, eating next to nothing ect. and the weight still won't come offsad It DID NOT cause me to crave food, like my Obgyn said. It has been a constant battle.
I am so tired of being miserable.
PLEASE E-mail me if you have any detox advice.

» aqueen19 - Horror Story

In response to Horror Story posted by Marty110:

Dear Marty110--It's totally amazing how your story is EXACTLY the same as mine. I got one shot of the stuff in August 2006 and am STILL bleeding. I also got a D&C which did absolutely nothing. I was put on these insanely strong birth control pills which did stop the bleeding, but at my age (38) I couldn't take them forever and they made me super sick to my stomach every day. As soon as I stopped taking them, the bleeding resumed. Has yours stopped? I'lm so frustrated waiting for this crap to leave my system!!
