» jen37 - Horror Story

In response to Horror Story posted by Marty110:

Well thank god I decided to look on google and do a search to find out what the hell is wrong with me!

I started takin depo when I had my twins this was over 9 years ago and then I was comin on and off to give myself a break. Well just had one of my breaks again and went back on depo in August well I didnt know it was possible to bleed for 3 weeks straight! So went to my doctor who prescribed some tablets to stop my bleeding called Norethisterone so took them still was bleeding.

Finished bleeding last week then last nite all off a sudden Im bleeding again!

I dont believe this when I used to take the depo I was so pleased because I was not getting regular periods now it's like I have to ensure I have a good supply of pads in my bag!!!

I feel moody sometimes and achy got a fever today as if I'm comin down with flu what a nightmare!!!

In response to Depo is horrilbe posted by flababe811:

I was on Depo for 2 years, my last injection was June 15, 2005. May of '06 was my first period, which was very light, then mid June I started spotting which last a month, then 1 1/2 weeks later I had a completely normal period. With just a light period the end of August that last 3or4 days, followed by spotting ever since. I've seen my Dr, who did labwork and all was normal. Also had a sono done that showed a small fibroid. (that was all in July) I get headaches all the time which happened a lot before depo. but i'm also very tired all the time which started not long after my first couple injections. I gained 40lbs, i did lose 10lbs. w/ weight watchers, but it was very hard. I really want to get pregnant now, and I'm afraid that I'm going to have problems since the depo. I'm very interested in hearing other people's experiences with the after effects and conception.

» kjbickford03 - I am new to this site as well

In response to Re: New to site - Hope someone has advice posted by slsa2000:

I am 24 years old and have been married for 3 and a half years. Recently I found out about the law suit against the FDA due to DEPO causing many serious problems. I was concerned so I went to my physician and asked for a bone scan and an ultra sound due to excruciating period cramps. I have a cyst on my right ovary the size of a golf ball and my bone scan came back as osteoporetic (Sp??) in my L2-L5...my spinal cord....lovely. Now i am having regular or pretty regular periods but they are lasting forever....very very light the first four days...then BAM heavy bleeding for the next 5....should I be concerned or is this just another wonderful side affect of yet another body damaging birthcontrol method??

I was asked to be in that lawsuit a couple of times. An atorney here in La called me and said she would send me a packet...no packet yet...I'm wondering if I should call or just forget the stupid lawsuit....I've never been very fond of suing people any ways....

» taxchick12 - IUD

In response to IUD posted by Naturalhoney15:

I had an IUD twice (Copper T). I absolutely loved it. I had it put in 3 months after my youngest child was born and kept it in for 5 years, then started having periods every 2 weeks. Wasn't sure if it was from the severe stess I was under or just my body going nutso, anyway, I had it removed and my periods went back to normal and had my second one put in. Had the same thing happen this spring, but again lots of stress in my life and had it removed. I am 37, recently divorced and decided to get my tubes tied. My Dr. recommended the depo shot until I could get on her schedule for my tubes. I had the new Essure procedure which actually blocks the tubes, still have 1 more month to go before I have the ultra sound to find out if they are completely blocked. All I can say is i wish i would have just never gotten this horrible depo shot and stayed with the IUD. Its wonderful!!!! The first few months the bleeding is heavy and lots of clotting, but after that, its the best thing on the market. I would have rather dealt with the period every 2 weeks i was having instead of the weight gain I have had since getting the shot, the mood swings and the non-stop bleeding!!!!!! Get the IUD, its the best!!!!

» kat724 - Depo Symptoms

I have taken the depo shot for almost two years. I'm due for my shot in a few weeks but I'm not getting it! When I first got the shot things went fine but in the past 6 months everything changed. I started to have my period and sometimes it wouldnt stop for weeks! Also I've become moody, very depressed, and my blood pressure is high. Now that I"m getitng of the shot I'm worried that I wont be able to become pregnant sooner then hoped. When I got the shot I wasn't told that it could ruine my chances of getting pregnant even after I discontinue it for months. I think this shot is very overrated and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone!

you crazy person, do you not realise that it is not an ultrasound to see if your tubes are blocked it is an ultrasound on your head. Realise this your fertility is your most intimate and valuable posession, let some ignorant sadistic physician take it from you and no matter how much or how little bleeding you have you are at a loss. Healthy women have regular menses, in line with the lunar cycle, us and the great apes are the only animals on the planet to be so in tune with the universe it is our greatest gift and most beautiful intuitive symbol. It does not matter how perfectly manicured your nails are or how silky your hair is or how expensive your clothes are, if you are not in tune with your own fertility and do not value it your self nobody will put any value on you.
Can any woman who posts on this site for one second imagine a man who would stamp out his fertility, not have an erection , give up his right to procreate? And actually pay for the favour?
Keep in mind girls the other use for depo provera is casteration of male sex offenders, depo provera first and secondly iuds are the greatest insult firstly to women but also to the human race that has ever been invented.
Chech out these sites if you need any validation of my argument, and by the way iud, my friend had one of those violent things inserted she had an ectopic pregnancy and now may never have another child.

Drug companies like pfizer pharmacia elan etc are not in business to heal people they are in business to make profits, they are run by people with mba's and no ethics in fact most medical physicians have very little in terms of ethics either but as a matter of fact they can be corrected for reasons of ethical considerations, mba's cannot.

What happens girls if the theme in Children of men is real, what happens if we are all becoming less fertile and the reason is not simply because we were poisoned in to thinking that family planning was about planning our families it was really about stamping out our fertility, making us incapable of giving children to those we loved, messing with our hormones so that our marraiges broke up or we got breast cancer or endometrial cancer, what happens if we cannot get our fertility back, suing pfizer will not give us children to love or husbands to look after and cook for and depend on?

I am interested in any answers to these questions.
But are there any answeres when people who are supposed to have taken a hippocratic oath to act in the best interest of patients have stampped our fertility for the sake of a profit margin or next quarters sales figures?

In response to Depo is horrilbe posted by nkoch:

Dear Sistahs,
If you ever thought about getting the Depo shot DON'T DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been on the depo shot for little over a year now. After the first month I started bleeding. I went to the doctor and they assured me that that was unusual. So I continued on. I found myself moody and stressed out more so month after month. I cannot take the pills they put me at stroke level. This was the first birth control that didn't land me in the hospital. I didn't loose any hair or gain a lot of weight. I just feel like I am the Mississippi river. Deprovera has had some great success but it has had 100 times more problems and its just not worth it. I don't desire to have anymore children but my hands are tied. I will try abstinence hope my husband doesn't leave me afterwards
