Depo-Provera: asking the FDA to investigate

I had another in September. I decided not to go back and have another for a while. I didn't realize that I was having any side effects other than the irregular periods until now. I began taking depo again in December 2000 and had my last one in February 2001. I got married in Feb 2001 and we wanted to have children. I have two by a previous marriage and was fast approaching thirty at the time and we didn't want to wait too much longer before having another child (my husband doesn't have any children). I talked to my doctor about getting pregnant and got the usual it will take 6-18 months for the depo to be completely out of you system. That sounded great to me and to my husband. After I didn't start my period after six months I went back to the doctor, who gave me provera for a couple of months. I began having periods again but not normal or regular ones. Then about a year after my last shot, I went back to the doctor. He suggested clomid...which I was against taking at the time. I sought out another doctor. I started going to this new doctor and she said I should wait it out a little longer. Then I started to have two periods a month-heavy the first one of the month and then a lighter one later in the month. I called her after about 3 months of this. She said nothing was wrong and I should just wait for my body to regulate itself after the depo. Now it has been two years since my last shot and I am still have the two periods every month. My doctor now wants to have me start taking birth control pills to "regulate" my period. I am not sure I want to do this-look what the last chemical I put in my body did to me.... After doing some research on depo, I have found out that many things that I have had happen to me over the last few years might be related to the depo. I can't get out of the bed most mornings-I could sleep for days-I am tired all of the time-my hair is still falling out and I have an increase in the hair on my face-I cry all of the time over nothing at all-I have a kidney stone that was found when I got an unexplained kidney infection. I told my doc all of these things and she said "this too shall pass" I couldn't believe it!!! She even suggested that my periods were irregular because of the stress in my life and that was why I was depressed (because of the stress). I don't know where to go to make somebody listen to me...to help me...to run some tests to see what is going on with my body.I also read somewhere on this board where someone was going to start a lawsuit against the company that producesdepoo, is this still ongoing???? I got on Depo in August of 2002 and ever since i have hear all these stories of problems and yet my doctor told me there would be no side effects or very little. Since i got my last shot in November 2002 i have had a massive and constant stomach ache. I can't eat anything and i can't get rid of it no matter what i take. I don't know if it's related to the shot. I have gain my share of weight from 130lbs. to at least 144.. i won't even look at the scale anymore. I have also had a very weird period for the last two weeks. I only had my period for 3 days before i got on this shot. Should i get off the shot before i have anymore damage? My girlfriend just got a shot last week, the doctor talked her into it, I didn't know anything about it, so didn't feel there was anything wrong with it. The next day I started reading the horror stories about it, and now it's been a week, and she's having allergic reactions to it the doctor said. Her heart rate won't drop below 120, she had a heart attack 4 weeks ago from stress, and was in a car accident, and her broken ribs are causing her to not be able to breath deeply, but the doctor shouldn't have given her the shot, her heart rate was high when they gave it to her. Last night she just spent all night in the hospital, cause her heart rate to shoot up, and she couldn't breath. Really people like yourself seem to be the only people trying to do anything about this terrible drug and lie these companies and doctors are pushing. I WAS VERY DEPRESSED. NOT THINKING THAT BIRTH CONTROL WOULD MESS UP MY LIFE FOREVER.IT TOOK ME TWO YEARS TO GET THE WEIGHT OFF,LUCKILY I COULD. I STILL DON'T THINK THAT I CAN HAVE KIDS. ITS BEEN OVER THREE YEARS SINCE I'VE BEEN OFF. IT REALLY SUCKS THAT I MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO HAVE KIDS AND IT MAKES ME VERY DEPRESSED. My heart is pounding with fear. I begged my doctor to go to http://www.endometriosis.org/html/articl... to read the stories about unhealthy treatments that have been given. This particular shot of BC was not mentioned, so I thought it would be okay. Well I am bipolar as well. And have GAD, yesterday I was in a bad way, very nervous and scared, didn't know why. 'Thought my meds weren't working. It felt like a bad case of mania coming on. Could this be from the shot? I feel like I am coming out of my skin. And my heartbeat is very rapid. I am scheduled to have another every 3mo. Thank you in advance. I'm also being treated for endometriosis with this shot, and am starting to have emotional side affects, I was wondering , did you have excessive weight gain, and mood swings with this. I had bled for 4 years, In and out of ob/gyns and they did nothing. I remembered that during the loss of my last child in 95, they had to remove my ovary, and found endo. I don't know why I didn't remember it, except I knew they had removed some of it, and there was obviously some pods still left that multiplied. They are trying this depro for awhile, and then may have to eventually do a full hestorectomy. Before I was on depro, I had very heavy bleeding all the time, due to my lining being misplaced by the endo. Clots also. It was horrible. I don't know which is worse now, and am considering discontinuing the depro therapy. They can remove it(endo) with a laproscopy lazor, but it does come back. I am searching for options. I hope that you are doing better.
