If your on Depo get off asap I woulnt reccomend it to my worst enemy,

In response to former user of depo posted by blkness:

I just read your message about the shot. I am a 39 year women with my tubes tied and also get the shot. I also have high blood pressure and bad headaches. The high blood pressure and the headaches were here before I started getting the shot. I have had my tubes tied for 16 years now and boy did I go through hell after getting my tubes tied. If I could go back and do things over I would of never tied them. I also had bad cramps and bleeding bad after I had my tubes tied. My doctor tried me on every birth control pill there is and nothing helped me so he put me on the shot and the cramps stopped and the headaches stoped. I would never give up the shot for anything. Although the headaches come with high blood pressure I had them before I got the blood pressure problem. Having my tubes tied after my 2nd son was the worst thing I have ever done in my life. If you can handle the shot again then do it that was the only thing that has helped me with my periods and cramps. I have gained a total of 20 pounds since I stated getting the shot and before I got the shot I weighed 99 pounds. I dont exercise or anything I just watch what I eat it really isnt that hard to do. All my family is big and they are not on the shot. But they dont watch what they eat. Try the shot while you have your tubes tied it really helped me out. But people are different all you could do is try. I love it.......

» cutenwild1769 - Depo shot=Bullshit

When I first got on the depo shot it was feb 2003 right after i had my daughter it was the worst thing ever...I bleed for 6 weeks straight the doctor finally had to give me some hormones to stop the bleeding...it was horrible then they told me that that was just a one time deal and it wouldnt happen the second time i took it it was just a "first reaction" so stupid me i took it one more time to make sure it worked..well this time i didnt get a period and felt fine a little moody and i gained 35lbs {not fun!} now that ive quit taking it and started taking pills i havent had a period..everyone's saying im pg but ive taken test had ultrasounds and blood work nothings in there just that stupid shot has screwed me up and i think that everyone should get together whos had so called "bad experiences" since some of you said that you've had the "BEST EXPERIENCES" and we should sue there asses...some of us may never ever be able to have children again just because some doctor said that itd be an okay birth control...and to all of you that hasnt had a bad experience yet..its coming your way and youll be in here writing along with the rest of us...its just a bunch of bullshit!

» becca77 - Depot Shots

Wether it is Lupron Depot or Depo Provera they are both dangerous. I am a 29 year old mother of 4 and married. I was diagnosed with Endo in May 2004 and was on Lupron Depot shots, 1 shot every 3 months for 6 months, there were only 2 shots. It did NOT help the Endo. In August 2005 I had to be taken to the hospital for sever bleeding. There I was given Depot Provera to stop the bleeding, needless to say, it is Feb and I still haven't had a period. What I do have are heart palpitations that there is no diagnosis for. It started the week before Christmas and it is getting worse by the day. I am on a heart monitor to monitor my heart in hopes that the cardiologist can figure out what is going on. On top of that I feel lightheaded all the time, my vision comes and goes from clear to blurry, I get bad headaches and hardly have any energy at all. I am on Zoloft for panic attacks and depression as a result of being on the Lupron. I have bone pain constantly. My sex drive is minimal. I thought the Endo was bad, this is hell. I hate it. I am tired of going to doctor after doctor and none of them being able to tell me anything, you can't tell me with this many women having similar problems that they don't know. If there is a lawsuit that is going on that someone is aware of, please let me know, my e-mail address is ronrebecca2002@sbcglobal.net
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.

» petesdragon - My hair is falling out!

Wow - how nice, yet unfortunate, to see that I am not the only one going through some of this. There is something seriously wrong with Depo. I was excited to get on it after having my 2nd child. That was 4 months ago and I am still spotting. Not only am I dealing with the annoyingness of the never-ending period, but my hair is falling out at an alarming rate. I can't help but wonder if I'm working on going bald. My husband noticed my "receding hairline" this weekend after some time of noticing that quite a bit has been coming out for about the last month or so. This stuff is scary.
After getting my first shot in October, I got so depressed and decided that I didn't even want to mess with birth control so I got my tubes tied. I am now taking Lexapro for the depression and am on Yasmin (the pill) to see if I will ever stop bleeding and spotting, which comes and goes, but never fully stops. I think in the last four months, I maybe have been "bleed-free" a total of a week, tops.
I wasn't given any information, they left the research up to me. Guess I should have done a little of it before getting that mess injected into my body.

» petesdragon - Me again...

I did some research about depo after my last post and guess what I found to be rather disturbing. Depo-Provera is used in at least 8 states to "Chemically Castrate" sex offenders and pedifiles. I never would have allowed that needle to touch me had I known that. Check it out:

It's funny (not really) that they don't announce this in this promotional literature.

I just wanted to give some advice. I have recently gotten off depo because I have been suffering from severe depression. I even went to see a psychiatrist because I thought I needed anit-depressants it was so bad. He decided it wasn't worth all the added side effects because he believes once the hormones are out of my system I should be back to 'normal.' In the meantime he reccommended different herbal supplements to help. St. John's wort is supposed to be the best but cannot be taken with birth control pills. SAMe is what I've been using for about a week and already feel a difference. It's more expensive, but works quickly. He also suggested Valerian root or Kava Kava for the anxiety, irritabilty and insomnia the depression has caused.

» Naturalhoney15 - IUD

It's so unfourtante that all of us had to find out the hard way that depo is one of the worst things we could do to our bodies but it has hapened... I have experinced almost every symptom that you all have mentioned.. I have a shot due next month but i'm done. I've been reading up and I have found that an IUD sounds to be great.. i know quite a few people on it and never once have they had any side effects or problems.. it is as simple as a gyno appt and just takes a few minutes to put in and you don't have to worry about it until 5 or 10 years..which is how long you can get them for and if you wnat kids it is just a few minutes at the gyno to take it out.. thats what im getting as soon as i get home from my deployment. For everyne looking for alternatives to depo, it sounds like a good choice but then again.. all our bodies are diffrent and work better with diffrent things.. I hope every can overcome what has happened to them.

I got my first shot November 2004 and got my second February 2005. I didn't go back for the third shot because I was fed up with it. I had lots of pains and gained a good ten pounds. My third shot was scheduled April 2005. I got my period the month I was suppose to get my shot. I got my period every month until November I didn't get one then I got one in December on the first. My period come on every 28 days, so I suppose to got one on the 29th of December. It didn't show up then neither in January. February 6, 2006 I got a period I spotted for 7 days, I usually be on for only 3. I thought I was pregnant and wanted to be, but the test was negetive. Now I'm trying to get pregnant and don't know if I'm able to know and I haven't got the shot in a year.

» Diane Laney Fitzpatrick - Another view

I was so disturbed to read about all your bad experiences with Depo Provera. I had a wonderful 10-year experience with it. Started getting the shots after my daughter was born and it was a godsend. I only had one experience with a long, long period, I got a mid-month "booster" shot of Depo and never had another bad experience.
It's important to remember that it's a hormonal birth control and can affect you (depression, breast cancer risks, etc.) like any other hormone treatment. I stopped getting Depo after 10 years because my doctor thought that was long enough. Otherwise, I'd still be on it. Never could figure out why more women weren't taking advantage of the convenience . . . after reading about your problems, now I think I know why.
