» domino26 - Need help

Hello, i have a question for anyone who can answer it for me.
I was on the when it frist came out and was on it for 3 years i went off it for 3years and then i got pregent with my frist child. After i had i was i needed to go back on the shot for my good, so i did just that. I went back on it for year and half. Then i stop getting the shot. Know its been almost 4 years since I've been off the DP, and my husband and I want kids together. But I haven't been able to get pregrant. Could that be because of the shot?
I was sitting here reading everyones storys that had to tell about the shot, and that sit here and look back to when i was on the shot, i had alot of the same problems that alot of the other women on here have or had. My doctor always told me that it was something else that was causing to unbearable, bad vision and everything else. I never know how many problems on little shot could do to a person.
Anyway if anyone could let me. Thank you!!
Feel free to e-mail me and let me know.
dominobaby_343_2005@yahoo.com. thank you for taking the time and reading this.

For the first six months I was a raving lunatic. I am a Very calm and put together person and it reall changed my mood levels my appitite everything. I would suggest that you find something else. I was like you with the fear of pregnancy and after personally being on it for 5 years almost-it wasn't worth it. I have had soo many health problems since and many still are not resolved. I had all of your symptoms, and I started when i was about 19. If you have any questions about my symptoms or my problems since I would be happy to share- If it saves one girl from staying off depo I would tell hundreds of people.

Hi Krista,

I was on depo from the age of 18-20 when I stopped taking it. It took me about a year to start getting a regular period after I was supposed to get my last dose, and I was really scared about what that meant. But my doctor said that everyone just takes there own time to get back to a cycle, and some take longer than others. Some people can take up to two years. I had blood work done after 6 months and it all came back fine. So that is my experience, and I hope it helps to know that what you are experiencing is normal.

Hi,

I was on depo for about 2 yrs. when I went off it. I didn't get my period for about a year and was quite worried about the same things you were. My doctor said that it was completey normal, and that in some cases it can take up to 2 yrs. to get a normal cycle. I had blood work done after 6 months, and everything was fine. After about a year my period returned and everything was back to normal. It just takes some time for your hormones to level back out. I didn't have any other problems, and am now back on it.

Hope this helps.

I was on depo for 2 yrs. also and when I came off it took me about a year to get a regular cycle back. My doctor and the literature said that it can take up to 2 yrs. for your hormones to balance out, but that is rare. After a year I was totally normal again.

Hope this helps.

» blkness - former user of depo

I used the shot ONCE, when I was 20 (may,1993)after the birth of my first child. I bled for a couple (2-3) weeks after the shot then no bleeding for months. I never returned to repeat the shot because I missed my appointment and I would've had to go through the initial process again (exam, blood work, etc.). So I just said forget it.....well I had unprotected sex (w/husband) for years after that. I had my second child 6 almost 7 years later (nov,1999). So, if you want children eventually, this shot is not for you. I only had ONE DOSE and I couldnt conceive for 6 years. Now my tubes are tied, but my periods are heavy and terrible and I just thought I might try it again to ease my period pains (no period, no pain). After reading these articles I'll deal with the cramps. If anyone has any advice on how to combat terrible mentral cramps please email me.

» jaysmom - Re: depo shot

I was reading the different posting and horrible rating that people has given the depo shot. I was on the shot for 3 years and I just got off on 12/30/05. The reason I got off is because the doctor said that they are finding more problems with the depo the longer you are on it. The whole time I was on the shot I gained 27 lbs. which was an advantage for me because I was only 98 lbs. to begin with. I really liked the shot I have one child and feel really strong about not having anymore soon. I don't understand how people didn't know the side effects of the shot, when my doctor gave me a pamphlet about all the possible side effect: headaches, vision, hair loss, weight gain, bone density loss, etc. One article I read the girl said her doctor never heard of some of the things that were happening to her, maybe you need to find a new doctor because I was informed prior to taking the shot and I loved it.

» Candace38 - Depo-Provera and Teen Depression

My daughter (age 18) started taking Depo shots about a year ago.
I would be interested in hearing from other teen users who suffered from depression while on this shot and/or mood swings or aggression.
She just left our home and her school here because she said she continually felt depressed when alone and has complained about not being happy. She lost focus and could not get up for school, seemed to lose interest which was really out of sorts for her. She has actually moved several states away from me and left here depressed and crying, yet determined to leave.
Since I love her so much, I am heartbroken, and have looked at any and all reasons for this situation. I just came across this site and am reading through here. I had not thought about the shots she was taking as a possible cause for her mood swings and complaints of depression.
Is there just minor depression and does it go away or does it get worse the longer you are on the shot?
Any comments would really help..
Thank you..
