Depo-Provera: asking the FDA to investigate

I only had it once I have suffered every since. I've had constant bleeding for A year. The doctor has had to put me on two different types of hormones and that still is not helping. I've had to have surgery that did nothing. I have to take pain meds to get thru the day. now the Dr does not even know if I can have children. Abit Of Info Hello Everyone, I have been doing some research & since I work in the medical field it is easy for me t/undrstnd now. What the manufactures are doing is altering, modifying, adding synthetic hormones in birth control, in order to get a patent on their product.. They can not market & patent what is natural & make money..example) Mare hormones taken from the placentia while giving birth to its foul, this is a synthetic hormone. Medroxyprogesterone acetete (Depo Provera) is a synthtc hormone. This is what's causing Eos (Estrogen Overload System) & a deffiecency of progesterone=Imbalanced hormones. Medroxyprogesterone acetate's warnings is what we all share, due to an adverse reaction of the foreign object synthetic hormones. Yet the doctors are being told this is completely safe & are not aware of the true reaction. It causes to much E & not enough D t/keep it balanced. The synthetic hormones, causes side affects of hair loss, depression, mood swings, headaches, post menapausal, cysts, ocular leasions, acne & medroxyprogesterone is causing a calcium deficiency which causes osteoporosis. The doctors in turn are treating this with more synthetic hormones in provera, premarin etc, which causing more symptoms. It all fits in. My research is not complete but I did find out that (NPC) Natural Progesterone Cream Can be used to balance the both. This natural hormone is found in a mexican yam, which treats pms, post menapausal, fibroids, & sysmptoms we now carry. If you would like to know more you can e/mail me @ menalourenco@aol.com---I am going to try the cream but it is important to use it moderately for 3 wks, there is a strict usage measure not to increase the levels.. This is used to balance the estrogen & progesterone... Hope it makes since to you all now. We are not going crazy--Our bodies are simply telling us, synthetic hormones are causing damage. True some might not but majority are. The craziness we go through due to man made greedy manufacturers. Maybe it's a sign to stop using us as guinea's. No MOre Synthetics hormones & this is what you find in every birth control, what's not being told.. See & it did not take a doctor to figure this.. I knew it would take time to wear off - but didn't realize how much damamge it has apparently done. OB referred me today to a reproductive endo. We tried provera to kick start a pd and then were going to try chlomid to try to ovulate, but the provera didn't work. I am trying to be patient - but it is hard not to wonder if I will be able to have a child. Has anyone been successful in getting pregnant after depo for so long? How do you get the weight off? What about the mood swings? Hot flashes?-- posted by lgreen » ttcweb - Re: New to site - Hope someone has advice It can take up to 18 months for your period to return after using Depo, and that can be if you only have one shot or years of shots. In a way, the Depo has told your body that you are in menopause. That is one of the reasons that you will get hot flashes. Using provera to 'jump start' a period usually will not work for most Depo users. Depo contains only progestin, and so does provera, so you are just giving your body more progestin. Actually using birth control pills that contain estrogen as well as progestin might help. You should only need to use the pills for a few months, and you should start cycling on them, and then it should be easier to switch from the pills to clomid to help you ovulate. You didn't mention how long ago you took the provera, but it can take a few days after you take the last pill for it to work. If it has been more than a week since your last provera pill, I would not try it again. Your reproductive endocrinologist should do full blood work and measure your hormone levels. That will let him/her know that you are very lacking in estrogen and have way too much progestin in your system. Your doctor should be able to fix this for you. I am not sure where to start here but i have been on the depo for 2 years now, I had missed my shot in August and ever sence i missed my shot i have been having some real problems with my breast being sore and also having signs of being preganat. I have already had one pregnancy test done and it was neg. I am not so sure that i am but i cant understand why i am having so many signs of it. I am really hoping the test is neg. when i call up the doctor tomorrow, i am just hoping that some of my problems is from stopping the depo shot. I was wondering if anyone here has had any of these problems and if so you can email me at this address codmak02@hotmail.com. I guess you can say that i am really scared that this a pregnancy and not something else. I think i could handle something else not to have a baby. The doctors told me that it could take up to 14 weeks or 2 years to have a baby. It is now Nov. 2002 and I thought that I was pregnant (my husband and I have been trying). I went to my Dr. today and it was such a let down. I am not pregnant and am wondering if I will ever be. I have cried for hours. I think that this drug is a poison. It is not safe and I would never recommend it to anyone. I gained 30 lbs that I can not get rid of. I read your story and it is me!! I am going through the same thing. I wish I had some hopeful advice, but right now I am not hopeful at all. I am 26 years old with a 7 year old daughter and want so badly to be a Mommy again. Have you heard any positive feedback? I am curious to know. I took depo provera for 2 years, I received the last one in January of this year and now until October I got my first period, after being absent for about one year. My problem is that the bleeding have lasted more than 20 days. In the beginning I got big blood clots for about seven days in a row. I went to my Gynecologist and he said that after the absence of my period for more than a year this was normal. He said it is just a heavy period and since depo provera have stop it for so long,this was the result. After those seven days of heavy blood clots, my period become only liquid, no clots and more normal, but after two weeks like that now it came back again with the heavy big blood clots, it is normal or not. I am appalled and my heart is jumping out of my throat. I was on Depo for 2 years...and although I had probably your best case scenario while I was on it (no problems at all), I am enraged that I was not told about any of these possible side effects or that the FDA would put something so questionable on the market. I am so sorry for all of you that have had your bodies and spirits destroyed by this drug... I recently switched to the patch, and that's that. I will never go on Depo Provera again and will always from now on be more careful about what I put in my body. Thank you to all of you for telling your stories. Get them out however you can and I am all for this lawsuit. The more women that hear about this outrage and tragedy before they make the mistake of being talked into getting the shot, the better.-- posted by scarlett0884 » cbuckl - Depo is evil and should be taken off the market I was on depo for a year and a half and since then I have gained 15-20 pounds and have mood swings,headaches,ovarian cysts and lack of sex drive. I didn't know that the side effects and consequences were so horrible. My doctor assured me that this would be great for me and so I took it. Then I slowly started hearing about how horrible this drug is and found this website.
