» DaisyCrazy - Who has used Chlomid

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 2 years. The new Dr. I have been seeing is going to put me on Provera (I think) to force my period, and then she is going to put me on Chlomid to bring about ovulation. I have heard success stories, and failures, and I know each situation is different, but I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with it. She wants me to go on it over Christmas, since my hubby will be off work for about 3 weeks, and we will have ample time to try.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Daisy!

My doctor was about to put me on Chlomid when I got pregnant anyway. So, unfortunately, I was never on it to share my experience with you.

I do wish you luck, and I understand what it is like to have trouble. I am now a mother of two boys (4 years, and one that is 11 months), but I had several miscarriages in between.

But what I heard when Chlomid was recommended to me...was all good.

Just make sure that your doctor monitors you. You should have a progesterone test done on day 21 of your cycle (day 1 is the first day of actual bleeding). This will tell you and your doctor if the clomid worked or if you might need to have the amount adjusted.

Because you should not take clomid for an extended period of time, it is better to make sure that it is working at the lowest possible dose as early as possible, then to wait three months and try a higher dose.

Clomid should work as long as the only infertility problem is ovulatory in nature. If there are other problems (PCOS, tubal blockage, low sperm count, etc.) then you may need more medical assistance than just clomid.

Please feel free to join me in any of my infertility topics or to take my Introduction to Infertility course and I will do my best to answer any questions you have.
