I recently went to a salon where I got a color with cap highlights. I am really happy with the results and would like to maintain the look. However, I am concerned about the cost of upkeep. My question is, I have been coloring my own hair for years so I know how to touch up color, but I want to know how do you retouch cap highlights. Do you retouch roots with color first and than pull hair thru cap and retouch only the regrowth (and how could you possibly pull the same pieces of hair thru) or since I have short hair should I just apply color all the way thru ends and than re-highlight with the cap? Thanks
