So, Bush II wants to start drilling for oil on the lands of our national monuments? I've got the perfect place for him to start: At the top of of Teddy Roosevelt's head on Mount Rushmore.It was T.R., after all, who did much to create our system of national parks, back when "conservative" included the concept of "conservation." Perhaps somebody could point out to Bush II that T.R., a fellow Republican president, recognized the need to protect these lands a century ago.
Of course, T.R. also bolted from the Republican party, and ran in 1912 as a 3rd party "Bull Moose" Progressive. Let's not tell Bush II that part, OK?
