I loved this article, I could identify myself and other members of my family within its descriptions.

Happily, none of them come at either end of the scale :-)

Our house is rented and when we first came here I could have cried at the garden, it was a jungle, it has taken nearly a year to calm it down, but only a couple of flower beds, filled with hardy perennials , one or two old roses, grass cut regularly but not cut at the edges where it meets a field. We made a pond, and let the grass grow long around it, put some ramshorn snails in and a few plants. The frogs love it and so do the birds, and insects! No fountain though! Would love to learn more about pond life :-)

Actually, I am trying to link some of my articles to other ones here by different writers. One of these is an article on how to create a good garden pond. So, keep your fingers crossed.....
