» AnneWatkins - Waylon & Jessi

We had the great pleasure of meeting Waylon and Jessi several years ago when they were invited to the Bell Buckle Cafe in Tennessee to hear the band my husband was then performing with. (I had met Jessi a year or so earlier when I was asked to do some press releases for her cookbook.) They were both very gracious, friendly and down-to-earth folks.

Waylon was in very bad health at the time, having suffered several strokes, and but he took the stage with Jessi and performed some old favorite tunes. He even did part of the Dukes of Hazards theme for us! It was a wonderful day, and we all enjoyed lunch together at the Cafe.

Waylon paid my husband, Allen, a backhanded compliment. He said, "He's the tallest damn banjo player I've ever seen!" LOL!

Waylon Jennings will be greatly missed. Thanks for profiling him.

Anne
