» Red - prairie dog towns...

Mary,

This is a delightful description of prairie dog towns. My Dad saw them when he was in the west and told us of them when we were children. Thank you for taking me to visit one of these unique habitats.

I appreciate your submitting this article to the Nature's Treasures Event 2002. I am approving it and listing it under the category, "Habitats." Now I am off to read your other submissions.

Take care, my friend. It was cold, blustery and nasty here today. We also had snow flurries. Hope your weather is better than ours, though I can't complain. We really haven't had a winter this year.

I have a Prairie Dog village right out my window in Northern Arizona. I love those odd little critters. Good point about the towns helping the ecology via flood control. Great article!

Hi Jill,
Glad you liked the article. Here in Wash. state we have something like the prairie dog but they are called Thompsons ground squirrels. They are really fun to watch and have the bluest eyes. Pretty neat critters, I think.
Thanks, Mary
